Key findings: AI helps creators create

Key findings: AI helps creators create

The creator economy is growing alongside the ambition of those shaping it. This report reveals a space more dynamic than ever, where AI accelerates output and human creativity is the differentiator.

Creators aren’t just making more content. They’re building businesses, owning their audiences, and thinking long-term. As AI becomes embedded in how they work, the most successful creators are those using it to enhance their craft, not replace it.

Almost 90% of creators feel pressured to use AI

Almost 90% of creators feel pressured to use AI

From editing and production to audience insights and ideation, creators are integrating AI within their workflows to move faster and produce more. 94% already use it, 89% feel some pressure to keep up, and 72% expect to increase their usage in the next 12 months. This chapter explores how creators manage to keep human creativity at the center.

As AI-generated output grows, the question of what makes content unique becomes more complex. Human identity is now what separates the content that connects from the content that gets ignored. Sound is at the center of that.

Music has always driven engagement and revenue. That remains true today, with 83% of creators claiming that human-made sound builds stronger emotional connection. This chapter details why human-made content is a premium in the AI age, and how it shapes the way stories perform.

72% of creators are building audiences away from core platforms

Creators are more ambitious than ever: 41% want to build a sustainable, independent business or grow into a media brand or creator studio. And they’re building for the long term, with 72% actively developing owned audiences through channels like newsletters and Discord.

Revenue is rising too, with live streaming, fan subscriptions, and brand partnerships all up year on year. This chapter charts both the creator economy’s expansion and maturation.

93% of creators associate AI with risk

Scale and speed create new responsibilities. While AI makes it easier to replicate voices, styles, and identities, creators face growing questions around ownership and transparency. 93% associate AI with significant risks, and 73% say unclear licensing could limit future business opportunities.

However, only 13% treat licensing as a key driver of success. This chapter clarifies why protecting IP, understanding rights, and AI transparency are no longer optional. They’re essential to building a sustainable creative business.

Where human creativity goes next

Where human creativity goes next

The Future of the Creator Economy Report 2026 proves that the landscape is fundamentally reshaping. AI is embedded, output is scaling, and the bar for what makes content worth watching has never been higher.

Today’s creators are leading the way by building owned audiences, diversifying their businesses, and doubling down on human creativity. As AI makes replication simpler, protecting IP with a solid license has become just as important as the content itself.

Creative control is the most valuable currency in the creator economy. Epidemic Sound believes the future belongs to those who combine the power of AI with the irreplaceable depth of human creativity. That means not only building workflows that support and enhance said creativity, but providing the rights-cleared, structurally compliant foundation that allows creators and brands to scale with confidence and shape what comes next.
