Royal Messenjah is by no means new on the music scene, but "Sutukung" is his debut with Epidemic Sound. This single is a fusion of three unique and vibrant genres that create a beautiful and distinctive sound. Messenjah channels the soulful and smooth sound of Bob Marley, while the acoustic M'Balax rhythm will have you tapping your feet and swaying to the beat. The reggae and soul elements add a touch of soulful sweetness to the mix, while the talking drums and groovy Wurlitzer add an extra layer of rhythm and excitement. Talk about an entrance! "I fell in love with this song because 'Sutukung' references one of the oldest villages in the Gambia and is regarded as a highly blessed and spiritual place," says Messenjah. "I remember playing my guitar on my balcony one night with friends, and the melody just came to me, and this is how it all began."
