About
Born in South East London in 1997, Mrley was introduced to music through browsing his parents' CD collection. He got into rock music, discovering Nirvana and Guns N' Roses following his mothers taste and first encountered the guitar whilst watching his dad learn from a beginners book. Attending school in London during the early 2000s, rock music was deemed as “music for white people”. Proud of his mixed Jamaican English heritage Mrley never shied away for his love of any genre based on ethnicity or circumstances. At 16 he formed the UK underground rap group ‘Ammi Boyz’ with PfromLee. During Covid, Mrley felt the urge to pick his guitar back up and turn his world upside down. Mrley now strives to represent a wider demographic within rock, demystifying the stigma of what it means to be a rock musician. "I just don’t want to paint my nails black and bleach my hair just to look a 'real rockstar’. I wish to succeed in my natural state for who I am and what my music stands for, nothing else!”. When not crafting his own music, Mrley ventures as a producer and songwriter across all genres, and additionally works on film directing and painting.
