GhostwriterMel is a Nigerian genre-blending soul artist whose music lives where emotion, memory, and rebellion meet. Rooted in soul and shaped by Alternative Pop, R&B, Dancehall, and Afro-fusion, her sound moves freely while staying grounded in feeling. Mel began writing poems in secondary school, then slowly found her way into songwriting, first through love songs, and later through stories that questioned desire, ambition, and identity. Over time, her writing deepened. Her music now holds soul, wrapping you up in the stories it tells. She started sharing music on SoundCloud in 2020 during the pandemic, releasing self-written songs and performing online. After a break, she returned as GhostwriterMel, a name that reflects how she writes across different genres and versions of herself. “I’m my own ghostwriter,” she says, “because some of my songs feel like who I used to be, and others feel like truths I’m still growing into.” Her debut single Okada (2021) introduced her Afro-pop edge, followed by Whole Day (2022), a softer R&B moment. Monopoly (2023) became her most streamed release, followed by IF I’M WRONG (2024)a two-pack that explored risk and romantic power dynamics. In 2025, she released Simmer and Delilah. A two pack, reflecting desire, betrayal, and the layered experience of transitioning from girlhood to womanhood. GhostwriterMel is less concerned with fitting into genres and more interested in expressing her truth. Her music sounds like Lagos chaos, feels deeply personal, and invites listeners to see themselves in it.
