“You like it? I love it!” is the first definitive statement of purpose from Lawd Ito, the young Latin pop maestro from Newark. On the 5-track EP, Ito explores the occult traditions of the Caribbean while seamlessly gliding between Spanish and English, between joy and deep soul-searching. "I wanted to step away from my usual songwriting themes about romance and heartbreak and dive into something more festive and frivolous,” he says. “I wanted each song to have its own individual sound, theme and characteristics. The difference of style and sound is a metaphor for how random and spontaneous my life can be.”
