About
Silvana Imam, born in 1986, is a multi-award-winning multidisciplinary creator with roots in Lithuania and Syria. She grew up in Prague, Kiruna and Jakobsberg and made a name for herself as a music artist early in her career with socially critical lyrics and energetic live shows. A broad and devoted audience has taken Silvana to their hearts and since her debut she has given voice to an entire generation. In a short time she has become one of the most acclaimed, listened to and influential artists not only in Sweden but throughout the Nordic region and beyond. With her uncompromising lyrics, she has broadened an increasingly important social debate with a sense of self-evidence and authority. Silvana made a big splash in 2013 with her debut album Rekviem. The album was followed by the EP När Du Ser Mig Se Dig in 2014 and then her second and critically acclaimed album Naturkraft which was released in 2016. In the same year she won a Grammis in the category Artist of the Year and later in her career she also received the P3 Guldgalan award Guldmicken for Live Act of the Year and the Music Publishers Award for Lyricist of the Year. She has been featured in the New York Times, High Snobiety, ELLE, Vice, i-D Magazine, Vogue and has collaborated with Adam Tensta, Thomas Stenström, Jelassi, 070 Shake, Unge Ferrari, Erik Lundin, Eva Dahlgren, Molly Hammar and Benjamin Ingrosso during her career. In September 2017, the documentary film Silvana – Wake me up when you wake up had its theatrical premiere across the country. In 2018, the film won a Guldbagge in the category Best Documentary Film in Sweden and Best Documentary Film at the Oslo Pix Film Festival in Norway. In 2017, she debuted with her first museum exhibition Nonsense Warrior Gallery at the Museum of Performing Arts. The exhibition revolved around paying tribute to contemporary “nonsense warriors” and was a dynamic exhibition under constant change during the month it was shown. In 2018, she released her first book Silvana at Nordstedts förlag. The book is a photo-based self-portrait of her person and musical universe. In 2019, she released her third album Helig Moder, which, like the previous ones, received standing ovations from critics and fans alike. In 2022, she debuted as an actress in the feature film Dogborn. The film was directed by Isabella Carbonell and was awarded at the Venice Film Festival. In the fall of 2023, Silvana made her theater debut with the lead role in Hamlet at the City Theater, directed by Sunil Munshi. Other roles include Isabelle Kyed, Leif Andrée, Annika Hallin, Shebly Niavarani and Peter Andersson. In addition to playing Hamlet, Silvana also composes all the music for the production together with her producer Nils “Nisj” Svennem Lundberg. On January 31, 2025 Silvana Imam released her new album Tro and during the year she finally returned to the stage again with Tro & Turné.
