Johannes Bornlöf writes for quiet hours — the stretch before sleep, the long middle of a working afternoon. Under his own name that means piano and little else: solo, melodic, patient enough to sit under whatever you're doing without asking for attention. The Swedish composer grew up in Uppsala, took his first piano lessons from his older brother at eleven, and later built a home studio in Dala-Järna, where he taught himself arrangement, production and orchestration. That grounding shows even in the simplest pieces. Since joining Epidemic Sound in 2012 he has released a steady run of EPs and albums, including “The 50 Greatest Epic Piano Pieces,” and the catalogue has now passed 498 million streams across different streaming platforms and 16 billion track views on YouTube.
