What happens to Epidemic Sound’s previous sound effects?
On June 19, we’ll remove our old sound effects and replace them with a bigger and better catalog from Soundly.
Don’t worry. If you’re sitting on a completed project or just polishing the final cut, we’ve got you covered. As long as you were already cleared to do so, you can publish new content featuring our old sound effects until December 12, 2024.
Frequently asked questions
What will happen to my content that I have created and published with these SFX before you remove them?
If you’ve used our old sound effects in a previous project during an active subscription, you’re safe. As long as you were cleared to use the effect when you published your content, it remains cleared forever.
However, if you publish new content featuring old sound effects after December 12, you will not be covered by our license. We recommend using our new sound effects catalog instead, which is bigger and better than before.
If I downloaded old sound effects before you removed them, can I still use them after December 12?
No. As the old sound effects will not be registered as an asset of ours after December 12, any new content you publish featuring old sound effects will not be licensed. That’s why we ask you to use our new effects from Soundly.
What will happen if I do use old sound effects after December 12?
We kindly ask you not to use our old sound effects going forward. Since we will not have them registered as assets of ours after December 12, we cannot guarantee your legal safety if you use the old sound effects.
I liked the old sound effects I had, how can I find similar ones in your new catalog?
You can search the new sound effects catalog as you did the old one. But thanks to Soundly’s extensive metadata, you can quickly find, index, and use high-definition effects, multiple variations, and individual segments of way more sounds!
I had several sound effects saved in my account/playlist, where have they gone?
We recently added all-new sound effects from Soundly to our catalog. Some of the sound effects in your account/playlist were sourced from our previous partner and had to be removed due to contractual obligations. However, Soundly offers a much larger and more diverse catalog of sounds. Dive in and explore this new wave of high-definition sound effects!
I have already used, produced, and planned on using the old sound effects after December 12. What should I do?
As per our Terms and Conditions, you are advised not to utilize assets that are no longer available in our catalog. Please ensure that you either publish those assets before December 12 or replace them with new sound effects that we’ve added from Soundly.
