About
New York based Turkish-American pianist & composer Beyza Yazgan crafts melodies that blend classical tradition with contemporary influences. Her debut album of original compositions, 'Human Cocoon', was released in 2024 on Imaginary Animals, charted on the Billboard Classical Chart, and was named “Contemporary Album of the Month” by The Guardian. She earned her Doctorate in Piano Performance at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul (and Chopin Academy in Warsaw). In 2016, she moved to New York to pursue a Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music, where she was awarded the Josef Fidelman Contemporary Music Performance Award. Beyza has performed in diverse settings, from renowned venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall to ancient caves in Turkey. After winning first prize at the 8th Metropolitan International Piano Competition, she self-produced her first album, To Anatolia: Selections from the Turkish Five, released in 2021 by Bridge Records. Whether performing solo piano or composing for screen, she weaves imagination, heritage, and personal voice into her music.
