Do you ever find yourself struggling with finding qualitative, royalty-free music for your videos and content? Fear no more; we’ve put together a foolproof guide on how to find the perfect soundtrack for your videos – quick and easy.
Our ever-expanding catalog has over 35,000 high-quality tracks and 90,000 premium sound effects – all waiting to be downloaded within seconds. But with such a vast collection of music and sounds, how do you find that perfect tune to go with your unique content? In this blog post, we’ve collected our best tips and tricks on how to effectively navigate our catalog.
Search & filtering
To easily find what you’re looking for, you can filter on tracks based on genre, mood, length, tempo, and vocal or instrumental. You can also combine search with filtering. So if you’re feeling imaginative and know exactly what you’re looking for: search for it. Looking for mysterious hip hop? Just type it into the search bar!
You can always see the track length in the listing. After a track gets played, the title and artist name get greyed out and stays that way throughout the session (until the tab has been closed down).
Artist Pages are available for every artist and are reachable simply by clicking on the artist’s name anywhere in the player.
A foolproof way of finding the perfect track is to go directly to our curated albums where we’ve compiled tracks in a variety of styles. All tracks are carefully picked out by our talented music curators.
Featured on the music home page, you’ll find your personal music recommendations, the Now Trending list with the hottest tracks at the moment, our most popular genres and moods, featured sound effects, and the latest releases.
We are updating our Staff Picks regularly; that’s where you’ll find the newest and most interesting tracks in our catalog, picked out by our music curators.
Found a track that’s almost perfect? Or want more of that same vibe? Press the Find Similar button or the track title, the one with the two rings, and you’ll get a bunch of good suggestions.
Love a track but want to get rid of a certain feature or just make it more unique? All of our tracks come in four stems (drums, bass, instrument, and melody) and you can either download a full track or each stem separately by clicking the download arrow to the right of the track.
Our catalog has 90,000 sound effects to explore and download, and our tagging and categorization make the search for the perfect sound effect super easy. We want you to be able to use the very first word that comes to mind, without having to think about a particular category. You’re only a couple of clicks away from soundtracking your video like a true professional.
Based on recently uploaded videos to your connected YouTube channel(s), we’ll provide you with music recommendations, starting on day one of your subscription. Basically, we’ll recommend music commonly used with the type of videos you’ve published on your channel. Don’t like the recommendations? Just refresh and you’ll get a new set of tracks.
We’ll provide you with music recommendations based on the tracks you’ve downloaded previously from Epidemic Sound. Five recommended tracks will be presented under ‘More of what you like’ on your music starting page. All you have to do to get these recommendations is to have downloaded at least one track.
Control the player with your keyboard

Epidemic Sound is a breeze to use because we offer royalty-free music with a twist.
Royalty-free music is music you can use in content without having to pay royalties to artists or rights holders every time it’s played. Royalty-free music doesn’t automatically include public performance rights, meaning you still might have to pay royalties when you publish it on digital platforms.
Our music is more than just royalty-free. What sets us apart is that we own all the rights to our music, offering users a direct license.
Synchronization rights, mechanical rights and public performance rights? All included. Additional fees or royalties? Forget about it.
More than royalty-free. More like worry-free. As long as you have an active Epidemic Sound subscription and you’ve added your channels, you’re all set to use our music in your content.
The content you publish on safelisted channels will be cleared from claims forever, as long as it was uploaded while you had an active subscription. We’ll handle the license – check out the 30-day free trial below.
